U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher
NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher Wednesday with six of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.
Shares of Ctrip.com International and NetEase added 4.08 percent and 3.85 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks of the index.
Shares of BeiGene and TAL Education Group lost 3.42 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively, the top two laggards in the top 10.
U.S. stocks closed higher on Wednesday, paring losses from the previous session as investors digested the latest beige book released by the U.S. central bank.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 237.45 points, or 0.91 percent, to 26,355.47. The S&P 500 was up 31.51 points, or 1.08 percent, to 2,937.78. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 102.72 points, or 1.3 percent, to 7,976.88.
As of Tuesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,790.35, marking a 1.32-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 21.78-percent gain for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
